About L.T.D.
L.T.D. took its name from Love, Togetherness and Devotion, developing as an American ensemble whose sound connected funk with R&B. Its arrangements combined a substantial horn section with keyboards and rhythm instruments. Jeffrey Osborne initially worked as a drummer before becoming a lead vocalist. The album Love to the World included Love Ballad in 1976, while later recordings such as Holding On (When Love Is Gone) and Shine On extended the group's repertoire across ballads and dance-oriented material.
