About The Platters
The Platters developed as a Los Angeles vocal group, with the classic lineup combining Tony Williams, David Lynch, Herb Reed, Zola Taylor and Paul Robi. Their Mercury recordings included Only You, The Great Pretender and Twilight Time. The group blended carefully arranged harmonies with pop ballad material, reaching audiences well beyond its early rhythm-and-blues setting.
