About Three Dog Night
Three Dog Night built its identity around the contrasting lead voices of Danny Hutton, Cory Wells and Chuck Negron, supported by a full instrumental band. The group's repertoire brought contemporary songwriters into a forceful pop and rock setting. Recordings included Harry Nilsson's One, Laura Nyro's Eli's Coming, Randy Newman's Mama Told Me Not to Come and Hoyt Axton's Joy to the World. That mix of singers and outside material allowed their catalog to move between soulful ballads and exuberant ensemble performances.
