ARTIST BACKGROUND

About Shaggy

Shaggy was born Orville Richard Burrell in Kingston, Jamaica, and later developed his music in New York. Early dancehall recordings included Mampie and Big Up. Pure Pleasure began his album career in 1993, followed by Boombastic and Midnite Lover. A move to MCA preceded Hot Shot in 2000, with It Wasn't Me bringing his dancehall-based repertoire to a much broader international audience alongside continued soundtrack contributions.
