About Mary Wells
Mary Wells was a Detroit singer and songwriter who entered Motown with her own composition Bye Bye Baby. Berry Gordy signed her and produced that early recording. Work with Smokey Robinson then developed a gentler vocal setting on songs including The One Who Really Loves You, You Beat Me to the Punch and Two Lovers. My Guy became a central recording in her 1960s repertoire.
