About Bobby Vinton
Bobby Vinton grew up in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, where his father led a local band. He formed his own group as a teenager and studied music composition at Duquesne University while playing Pittsburgh-area clubs. An Epic recording contract led to Roses Are Red and a pop career strongly associated with romantic songs such as Blue Velvet and Mr. Lonely. Television variety work and theater performances continued his background as a bandleader and entertainer.
