About Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show
Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show developed from musicians associated with Chocolate Papers, including Ray Sawyer, George Cummings and Billy Francis, and the arrival of singer Dennis Locorriere in New Jersey. Their early records paired rough, conversational voices with comic and narrative songs. Later recordings under the shorter Dr. Hook name placed those voices in smoother pop arrangements. The historical group includes several changing roles and lineups; Sawyer's and Locorriere's subsequent solo performances are separate from its original studio catalog.

Dr. Hook - label group biography
The label identifies Ray Sawyer, George Cummings, Billy Francis and Dennis Locorriere and the band's New Jersey development from Chocolate Papers connections. The historical group and later solo careers are distinct. Its 1971 debut claim is explicitly in conflict with another retrieved distributor narrative and is not used as a settled release date. | Retrieved 2026-10-18
Dr. Hook - distributor historical catalog notes
The retrieved distributor notes identify the shortened Dr. Hook name after 1975, original Only Sixteen in 1975 and Cover of Rolling Stone in 1972. Its explicit 1972 debut statement conflicts with the other licensed sources; that discrepancy remains queued. Hit years are not substituted for earlier album releases. | Retrieved 2026-10-18
Sloppy Seconds - original licensed studio program
The licensed original album identifies its 1972 program and selected original Dr. Hook recordings. Earlier single context and individual metadata conflicts are scoped separately. Later live recordings and member solo performances are not selected. | Retrieved 2026-10-18
Pleasure & Pain - original licensed studio program
The original Pleasure & Pain album is dated 1978 and includes Sharing the Night Together and When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman. Their inherited 1977 track fields conflict with the independently reviewed licensed original-album items. The supported original 1978 year is used, before the later annual appearances. | Retrieved 2026-10-18
