About The Stranglers
The Stranglers formed in 1974 and were embraced by Britain's punk movement, while developing a sound that reached beyond straightforward punk rock. Their early albums Rattus Norvegicus, No More Heroes and Black and White arrived in quick succession. Later songs such as Golden Brown and Always the Sun showed the melodic range within the group's darker approach. Keyboardist Dave Greenfield's distinctive playing was an important part of that identity, continuing into the recordings released as Dark Matters.
