About George Strait
George Strait's recording style draws strongly on the honky-tonk and western-swing traditions of Texas. After performing with the Ace in the Hole band, he reached a national country audience with Unwound and the album Strait Country in 1981. His singing favors measured phrasing and clear melodic lines, moving between dancehall material and quieter ballads. Much of his repertoire comes from other songwriters, including Dean Dillon, making interpretation an important part of his musical identity.
