About Sarah McLachlan
Sarah McLachlan developed a style combining folk-based songwriting, atmospheric production and elements of alternative rock. Originally from Nova Scotia, she moved to Vancouver and released Touch before expanding her approach on Solace and Fumbling Towards Ecstasy. Surfacing brought songs including Building a Mystery and Angel to a broad audience. In 1997 she also founded Lilith Fair, a touring festival centered on women and women-led groups, extending her role beyond her own recordings.
