About Grandmaster Flash
Grandmaster Flash is a DJ whose work grew out of Bronx block parties and the early development of hip-hop. He used marked records, backspinning and related techniques to turn playback into a form of performance. His Quick Mix Theory helped organize that approach, and his work with emcees led to Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. 'The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel' presented his mixing on record; later work included musical direction for The Chris Rock Show.
