ARTIST BACKGROUND

About Bobby Helms

Bobby Helms began performing in Indiana on his family's Monroe County Jamboree, singing while his brother played guitar. His recording career encompassed country ballads and early rock-oriented material. Decca recordings from the late 1950s included Fraulein and My Special Angel, alongside songs such as Schoolboy Crush. Jingle Bell Rock became a seasonal favorite after its 1957 breakthrough, but the broader catalog also includes later Decca work and recordings issued through the smaller Speed label.
