About Alvin Stardust
Alvin Stardust brought a leather-clad rock and roll image to British pop during the glam era. He had already recorded as Shane Fenton in the early 1960s, with repertoire including I'm a Moody Guy and Cindy's Birthday. His later performing identity became associated with My Coo Ca Choo and a further run of 1970s singles. Pretend brought renewed attention in the early 1980s, connecting the revived stage persona with an older pop standard.
