About EPMD
EPMD is the Long Island partnership of Erick Sermon and Parrish Smith, with the name drawn from Erick and Parrish Making Dollars. Their recordings pair relaxed rap delivery with production built from funk and rock samples. Albums including Strictly Business, Unfinished Business and Business Never Personal established a recurring naming theme as well as a recognizable sound. The duo's work also became material for later hip-hop performers and producers to revisit.
