About Jr. Walker & the All Stars
Jr. Walker & the All Stars developed from an Indiana club group into a Michigan-based R&B band. Walker's prominent saxophone and shouted vocals gave their recordings a blues-oriented character within Motown's Soul label. Shotgun, (I'm a) Road Runner and How Sweet It Is became part of their 1960s repertoire. Work with Johnny Bristol on What Does It Take introduced a gentler vocal approach alongside their established instrumental drive.
