About Styx
Styx formed in Chicago around Dennis DeYoung and brothers Chuck and John Panozzo, making its record debut in 1972. Early albums drew on British progressive rock before the band developed a more accessible pop direction. Tommy Shaw joined for Crystal Ball, and albums including The Grand Illusion, Pieces of Eight and Paradise Theatre established its combination of guitar, keyboards and multiple singing voices.
