About Helen Reddy
Helen Reddy came from a Melbourne vaudeville family and moved toward an American recording career after winning an Australian television talent contest. She co-wrote I Am Woman with Ray Burton, and the song became closely associated with the women's liberation movement. Her later repertoire included Delta Dawn, Leave Me Alone (Ruby Red Dress) and Angie Baby. Television appearances and acting in Airport 1975 extended her work beyond the recording studio.
