About Kevin Gates
Kevin Gates grew up in Baton Rouge and developed a recording style that combines forceful rapping with melodic hooks. Mixtapes including The Luca Brasi Story helped expand his audience before the album Islah in 2016. Songs such as 2 Phones and Really Really became familiar parts of his solo repertoire. Later albums included I'm Him, Khaza and The Ceremony, continuing the movement between direct rap delivery and more reflective sung material.
