About Natalie Merchant
Natalie Merchant began her recording career with 10,000 Maniacs as lead vocalist, lyricist and occasional pianist. She left the group in 1993 and released her solo debut Tigerlily in 1995, followed by Ophelia and Motherland. Her work subsequently expanded into traditional and contemporary folk on The House Carpenter's Daughter. The 2010 Nonesuch project Leave Your Sleep set American and British children's poetry to music, bringing musicians from a range of traditions into a broader ensemble setting.
