About Edwin Starr
Edwin Starr built his early recording career at Ric-Tic before becoming part of Motown's roster. Agent Double-O-Soul and Stop Her on Sight preceded the forceful soul performances associated with Twenty Five Miles and War. His work with producer Norman Whitfield connected a powerful vocal style with socially conscious material. Later recordings included the Hell Up in Harlem soundtrack and dance songs such as Contact and H.A.P.P.Y. Radio, while British Northern Soul audiences sustained an interest in his catalog.
