About The New Christy Minstrels
The New Christy Minstrels developed in 1961 when Randy Sparks expanded his earlier trio into a larger folk ensemble. The group combined vocal harmonies and instrumental performers, establishing a repertoire that included This Land Is Your Land, Green, Green and Today. Albums ranged from Ramblin' to seasonal collections. Musicians including Barry McGuire, Larry Ramos and Kenny Rogers passed through its changing lineups before developing other careers, while the group continued through successive periods of performance and recording.
