About Sting
Sting, born Gordon Sumner, is an English singer, bassist and songwriter whose early experience included jazz groups in northeast England. After recording with the Police, he developed a solo career with The Dream of the Blue Turtles, working with musicians including Branford Marsalis and Kenny Kirkland. Nothing Like the Sun and Ten Summoner's Tales continued an interest in varied rhythms and narrative songwriting. Later projects include the John Dowland repertoire of Songs from the Labyrinth, made with lutenist Edin Karamazov.
