Original 2017 studio recording

MusicAtlas editorial note: The restrained verse tightens into a chorus that repeatedly circles its unresolved decision.

Release evidence and recording details

First released: 2017 (year verified)

The contemporaneous May 2017 artist/label announcement calls One Number Away previously unreleased, and the original album followed in 2017. This resolves the current licensed item's anomalous 2015 date. Only the supported original 2017 year is published.

This One's for You - licensed original program
The licensed 2017 program, visible album date and original track metadata identify the selected recording and its album association. Individual earlier recording dates are considered separately; a later expanded edition is not treated as the first release of older tracks. | Reviewed 2026-10-18

One Number Away - licensed recording item
The actual recording page identifies Luke Combs and the selected One Number Away item. Its visible original release header and the parent program were read together; only supported year precision is published. | Reviewed 2026-10-18

One Number Away - contemporaneous unreleased-track announcement
The May 15, 2017 artist/Columbia announcement explicitly calls One Number Away previously unreleased and announces its imminent May download before the June album. This resolves the licensed item's copied 2015 Hurricane date; no chart achievement is used as release evidence. | Reviewed 2026-10-18

Annual version match under review

The selected recording has release evidence, but its version has not been matched to the retained annual entry. It is omitted from Beyond the yearly lists until this match is resolved.

The selected original 2017 full-band recording and a separately documented 2018 acoustic Spotify Singles performance both existed during the actual 2018 annual entry. That retained entry does not specify the presentation, so its association remains provisional. This is a documented alternate performance, not an inference from playback-length differences.

One Number Away - official 2018 acoustic recording announcement
The March 7, 2018 artist/label body explicitly identifies a newly issued stripped-down acoustic One Number Away in the Spotify Singles program and separately discusses the original album single. This establishes an actual alternate performance in the retained 2018 annual period; it does not identify which presentation the unspecified annual entry intended. | Reviewed 2026-10-18
