Annual version match under review

The selected recording has release evidence, but its version has not been matched to the retained annual entry. It is omitted from Beyond the yearly lists until this match is resolved.

The original 1960 album presentation is selected. The licensed anthology separately uses a Remake Version label and inconsistent inherited metadata; the actual annual row does not specify its exact edition. The actual candidate is preserved provisionally and excluded from Beyond.

ARTIST BACKGROUND

About Brenda Lee

Brenda Lee began performing on radio and television as a child and signed with Decca in 1956. Her work with producer Owen Bradley linked a forceful rock-and-roll delivery to carefully arranged pop ballads. She also recorded in several languages as her audience expanded internationally. Country recordings became a larger part of her later career, including her renewed work with Bradley in the 1970s. Across those changes, her catalog gives unusually clear examples of one singer adapting her phrasing to very different arrangements.
