About Carrie Underwood
Carrie Underwood grew up in Checotah, Oklahoma, and reached a national audience by winning American Idol in 2005. Her debut album Some Hearts established a repertoire that ranged from the spiritual ballad Jesus, Take the Wheel to the forceful narrative of Before He Cheats. Later records expanded that balance of country storytelling, powerful ballad singing and pop production. She made her Grand Ole Opry debut in 2005 and became a member in 2008 after an invitation from Randy Travis.
