ARTIST BACKGROUND

About The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones emerged from London's blues and R&B scene in 1962. Their early singles drew on American performers such as Chuck Berry before Mick Jagger and Keith Richards developed the band's original songwriting. The catalog moved from concise singles to expansive albums including Beggars Banquet and Exile on Main St., and later absorbed dance rhythms on Some Girls and Emotional Rescue. Recording continued across decades, including Hackney Diamonds in 2023.

About this artist collection

Retains the existing Rolling Stones annual credit ID. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and other members' solo releases remain separate. Sweet Sounds of Heaven retains its Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder feature credits. Earlier compositions or recordings by other performers do not date a Stones recording.

First released means the earliest documented official public release of the selected recording. A year-only date does not assert a month or day. Later singles, chart years, compilations, remasters and reissues do not replace that date.
