ARTIST BACKGROUND

About B.J. Thomas

B.J. Thomas moved between pop, country and gospel while maintaining a warm, direct vocal style. His early work developed through the Texas group the Triumphs before the national Scepter recordings, followed by MCA country-pop and Myrrh gospel albums. His Columbia recordings brought another country period in the 1980s. Later acoustic projects revisited familiar songs with duet partners, making it useful to distinguish those new performances from the original studio recordings collected here.

About this artist collection

Uses the retained B.J. Thomas solo identity. Original Scepter, MCA, Myrrh and Columbia performances remain separate from later re-recorded anthologies, acoustic duets and the earlier Triumphs regional recording question. Raindrops selects the original Scepter single vocal and horn ending, not the earlier film presentation.

First released means the earliest documented official public release of the selected recording. A year-only date does not assert a month or day. Later singles, chart years, compilations, remasters and reissues do not replace that date.
