ARTIST BACKGROUND

About Olivia Newton-John

Olivia Newton-John was born in Cambridge and grew up in Melbourne, where television talent shows helped launch her singing career. After performing in Britain, she recorded If Not for You with producers Bruce Welch and John Farrar. Her repertoire moved through country and pop, while Grease paired her screen performance with songs including Hopelessly Devoted to You. Physical and the film Xanadu extended her later pop career.

About this artist collection

Uses the retained Olivia Newton-John solo identity and only the actual retained joint credits with John Travolta and Cliff Richard as scoped eligibility. Selections retain both named performers on the Grease duets, Cliff Richard on Suddenly and Electric Light Orchestra on Xanadu. Toomorrow, other soundtrack performers, concert versions and the 1998 I Honestly Love You remake are separate. Existing artist context is reused.

First released means the earliest documented official public release of the selected recording. A year-only date does not assert a month or day. Later singles, chart years, compilations, remasters and reissues do not replace that date.
