Symphony No. 3 in D minor
Marcel Tyberg
Work background
Researched classical background
Tyberg completed his Third Symphony before Nazi persecution ended his life. He entrusted his manuscripts to the Mihich family, whose preservation of the music eventually made modern performances possible. The Buffalo Philharmonic revived the score under JoAnn Falletta. Its recovery restores a substantial orchestral work to view; the circumstances of its survival do not establish a hidden autobiographical programme.
