Requiem in D Minor, K. 626
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Work background
Researched classical background
Mozart's final Requiem survives as a mixture of completed music, unfinished sections, and additions made after his death. The commission was associated with Count Franz von Walsegg's memorial for his wife. Constanze Mozart arranged for the score to be finished, and Sussmayr's completion became the customary performing version. Different editions and modern completions therefore do not contain precisely the same authorship or orchestration.
