About The Manhattan Transfer
The Manhattan Transfer developed its celebrated four-part vocal approach in New York, bringing together Tim Hauser, Janis Siegel, Alan Paul and Laurel Masse in the early 1970s. Its repertoire crosses jazz, pop, swing and R&B, with theatrical presentation complementing close ensemble singing. An Atlantic recording career and Chanson d'Amour expanded its audience. Cheryl Bentyne later joined the group, whose vocal version of Birdland became a landmark recording; Trist Curless succeeded Hauser after his death.
