About Nat King Cole
Nat King Cole developed as a jazz pianist before becoming widely known as a singer. Raised in Chicago after his family's move from Alabama, he led musical groups and built a long recording association with Capitol. His repertoire included Straighten Up and Fly Right, Nature Boy, Mona Lisa and The Christmas Song. Orchestral collaborations with arrangers such as Nelson Riddle and Gordon Jenkins broadened that sound, while television hosting and film work provided additional settings for his performance.
