About Joey Dee and the Starliters
Joey Dee and the Starliters developed from the band led by New Jersey singer and saxophonist Joey Dee. Their engagement at New York's Peppermint Lounge connected them closely with the early-1960s twist craze. Roulette recordings such as Peppermint Twist, television appearances and the films Hey, Let's Twist! and Two Tickets to Paris carried their club act to a wider audience.
