Ace Frehley developed his public identity as Kiss's original lead guitarist and the performer behind its Spaceman character. His melodic solos and forceful riffs also carried into a solo recording career, beginning with the self-titled album issued alongside the other Kiss members' solo releases. Frehley's Comet, Anomaly and Space Invader extended that catalog. The Origins projects turned toward cover material, with collaborators including Slash, Lita Ford, Mike McCready and John 5 on the first volume.
