Singer and bassist Kip Winger formed Winger after touring with Alice Cooper. The band's late-1980s approach joined accessible hard-rock melodies to technically demanding instrumental playing. Its later return to recording included IV, a comeback after the long gap following Pull. For that album the lineup combined Kip Winger, guitarist Reb Beach and drummer Rod Morgenstein with John Roth and Cenk Eroglu on guitar and keyboards. The band remained one part of its founder's broader career, alongside his separate work in classical composition.
