Mase established himself through guest appearances around Puff Daddy's Bad Boy label before moving into his own album career. His relaxed, unhurried delivery made his records accessible to listeners drawn to the label's pop-facing rap sound. Solo recordings such as Feel So Good and Lookin' at Me, along with What You Want featuring Total, became recognizable examples of that approach.
