Little Anthony & the Imperials developed from a street-corner vocal group centered on Anthony Gourdine's high lead voice. Tears on My Pillow introduced the act in 1958. After changes in personnel, the group returned to prominence with a more polished soul sound on recordings such as Goin' Out of My Head and Hurt So Bad, continuing beyond the original doo-wop period.
