About Gene Pitney
Gene Pitney developed as a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist in Connecticut, learning guitar, piano and drums. His dramatic tenor brought a forceful character to recordings such as Town Without Pity, I'm Gonna Be Strong and It Hurts to Be in Love. He also wrote songs recorded by other performers, including Hello Mary Lou and He's a Rebel. Collaborations with writers such as Burt Bacharach and Hal David further broadened the material available to his distinctive voice.
