ARTIST BACKGROUND

About Barbara Mandrell

Barbara Mandrell learned several instruments early, developing skills on accordion, steel guitar and saxophone before performing on Town Hall Party and touring with country entertainers. Her own recordings connected country singing with soul material, including an early interpretation of Otis Redding's I've Been Loving You Too Long. Sleeping Single in a Double Bed became a signature recording. Television broadened her audience through Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters, which combined musical performances, instrumental features and comedy.
