During a difficult review, Jules kept a calm demeanor even though he privately worried about the approaching deadline. His usual disposition was patient, a tendency his classmates had observed across many projects rather than only at this meeting. The team's morale nevertheless fell when several scenes had to be redrawn. The tutor recognized three different things: what Jules showed outwardly, how he generally tended to behave, and how confident the group felt about its shared work.

After the team completed a difficult sequence, its morale improved and members began volunteering for the remaining tasks. Jules's demeanor became more animated as he explained the finished scene, although his patient disposition had not suddenly changed. A cheerful afternoon could reveal a temporary mood without establishing an entirely new temperament. Likewise, the group's renewed confidence did not mean that every member felt equally energetic or that the project had no further obstacles to resolve.
