Repair, redesign, and restock

The community print room needed three different kinds of attention. Mara proposed that the volunteers revamp its booking process, replacing scattered notes with one shared schedule on the wall. They would refurbish the worn workbenches by repairing loose drawers and renewing their surfaces, and replenish the paper and ink that recent projects had used. Naming each task helped the group avoid treating every improvement as the same job, since redesigning a process, restoring equipment, and replacing supplies required different materials and decisions.
Before the next open evening, the volunteers agreed to revamp the handover routine so unfinished jobs would not disappear between shifts. They also planned to refurbish a storage cabinet whose damaged doors made it awkward to use. One person would replenish the paper trays at closing, checking the remaining stock before the next session began. Mara put these tasks on separate cards so a completed repair would not be mistaken for a revised procedure or an adequate supply of materials.
