At the printmaking club's annual review, Anika arrived with a prodigious stack of drawings that nearly covered the long worktable. She was already proficient at preparing clean printing plates and could explain the routine steps to a newcomer. She was also prolific, producing new designs throughout the year instead of returning only to one favorite project. The reviewers admired her energy, then asked her to select a few drawings whose ideas deserved further development before the next exhibition.

The prodigious amount of material gave the reviewers plenty to discuss, but volume alone could not decide which images belonged in the show. Being proficient meant Anika could carry out the techniques reliably; being prolific described how much work she produced. Some drawings needed stronger composition even though the printing was competent. She chose three promising designs and set the rest aside, treating the review as a chance to develop the work rather than merely count its pages.
