Name the desire and the response to it

A hedonistic guest in a fictional seaside comedy arranges each day around amusement and rejects any activity that offers him no pleasure. The gratification he seeks from applause leads him to perform another song whenever the conversation turns away from him. An indulgent host repeatedly excuses his interruptions and lets him take over the music despite an agreed rotation. The scene separates the guest's central aim, the satisfaction of a particular desire, and the host's excessive willingness to accommodate him, so the three descriptions do different work.
The guest's hedonistic choices give enjoyment a central role without making every enjoyable activity an example of an entire lifestyle. His gratification after a round of applause concerns a specific fulfilled desire for attention. The indulgent host creates a separate difficulty by granting repeated exceptions at the expense of other guests' turns. When a musician politely restores the rotation, the comedy shifts from competing performances to a shared evening, showing how pleasure can remain part of the gathering without requiring unlimited accommodation of one person's wishes.
