The designer used the sketches to guide a dramatic metamorphosis of the exhibition room. Angled panels and reflected light created a surreal atmosphere, as though the familiar space had become part of a dream. One faint moving shape initially seemed inexplicable to the volunteers. A closer look revealed a small reflection from the open door whenever someone walked past it.
The reflection ceased to be inexplicable once the volunteers traced its source, but the room retained its surreal quality. The designer welcomed that distinction: an effect could feel dreamlike without being beyond explanation. Photographs of the empty room made its metamorphosis easy to appreciate. Ordinary walls, reused panels, and carefully placed lights now formed a setting that visitors encountered from several unexpected angles.
