During the revised planning meeting, one organizer remained intransigent about using all six boards even after learning that four would hold the display. The adviser was uncompromising about honoring existing reservations, but flexible about arrangements that respected them. An unyielding metal support prevented two boards from folding into the proposed corner, adding a physical constraint to the disagreement. The group had to distinguish a refusal to compromise, a firm standard, and a material that would not bend to fit their preferred layout.

The intransigent demand for six boards blocked a solution without addressing the evidence about how much space the work needed. The adviser's uncompromising commitment to the reservation agreement did not prevent her from suggesting other rooms or times. Meanwhile, the unyielding support could not be persuaded or negotiated with; the display layout had to account for its physical rigidity. Naming these different kinds of firmness helped the students see which constraints required a revised position and which required a different practical arrangement.
