During the discussion, Victor gave a condescending smile and told the new volunteer that someday she would understand how serious clubs operate. His disdainful response treated her proposal as beneath consideration before he had examined it. When he began to disparage her experience instead of addressing the demonstration plan, the organizer redirected the conversation to practical questions. She asked what preparation time the plan required and what participants would learn, giving the group claims it could discuss without belittling their author.

Victor later called his remarks friendly guidance, but their condescending tone still presented him as naturally superior to the person he addressed. A disdainful dismissal offered no reason why demonstrations would fail to help beginners. The organizer explained that members could criticize a proposed activity without using the occasion to disparage its proposer. She invited Victor to identify a specific weakness and suggest an improvement, keeping disagreement available while asking him to express it in terms relevant to the work.
