Over several afternoons, the cumulative effect of small sorting improvements became visible in the shop's records as fewer orders needed staff help. One crucial detail was keeping each parcel's name readable; without it, customers could not identify the right collection. A slight difference in the labels' shade was insignificant for that task because both versions remained equally easy to read. The manager judged importance by the collection process rather than by how much discussion each detail happened to attract.

The team reviewed the cumulative results after all the trial sessions, rather than choosing the single quietest afternoon as its only example. They kept the crucial name field large when reducing the label's overall size. An insignificant change in border width received less attention than information that customers actually used to find an order. This did not make appearance irrelevant in every setting; it meant that the particular difference had too little effect to matter for the question being tested.
