When a student newsletter printed the wrong room for a poetry reading, its editor chose to acknowledge the mistake as soon as a reader contacted her. She explained that even careful editors can err, but she did not use that general truth to dismiss the inconvenience. An omission had made the problem harder to catch: the proof sheet left out the organizer's confirmation message. The team corrected the room number and examined where the missing information should have entered its review.

At the next meeting, the editor asked colleagues to acknowledge any similar gaps they had noticed in earlier proof sheets. People might err while copying a room number, so the revised process included a direct comparison with the current confirmation. The omission was also corrected by placing that message beside the final listing for review. Naming both the wrong entry and the missing check helped the team improve its routine without pretending that a new procedure could eliminate every possible mistake.
