Cautions / source differences (1)
Review first - source-specific qualification

Low absorption does not eliminate aluminum accumulation risk

Renal failure and dialysis can impair elimination of absorbed aluminum. No specific renal reduction is supplied.

Before applying: Review aluminum exposure and toxicity precautions; do not label this product universally free of renal concerns.

Evidence for this qualification

Source-specific qualification; independent clinician review pending.

Confirm the product, indication and renal measure. The selected summary is not a complete prescribing monograph.

Renal dosing, restrictions and evidence limits

Small amounts of aluminum are absorbed during treatment. Chronic renal failure and dialysis impair elimination of absorbed aluminum; accumulation can cause osteomalacia, osteodystrophy or encephalopathy. Protein-bound circulating aluminum is not removed by dialysis.

Use cautiously in chronic renal failure and consider concurrent aluminum-containing products. Limited gastrointestinal absorption does not establish safety in advanced CKD. The selected paragraph supplies neither a quantitative renal reduction nor a dialysis replacement schedule.
