Renal dosing, restrictions and evidence limits
Use with great care, if at all, in severe renal insufficiency, heart failure or sodium-retaining edema. The source highlights substantial sodium content and renal excretion of phenylacetylglutamine. Renal or hepatic insufficiency requires caution, but no numerical clearance cutoff or complete renal regimen is supplied.
Routine urinalysis, blood chemistry and hematologic testing are advised. Keep ammonia and nutritional biochemical monitoring within the disorder-specific treatment plan. Do not infer a percentage reduction or interchange sodium and glycerol formulations to resolve the sodium burden.
